Quick Card Post

This is just a quick post.

My Dad's birthday was yesterday, so I made him a card. We'll see him tomorrow when we take him to lunch..he should stop reading or his card won't be a surprise.

I didn't have a sketch or anything, which always complicates things. Also, cards for men are way more difficult than cards for women. So I tried to pick so manly colors. I got this patterned paper on sale at Hobby Lobby. I love that place.

I used some dimensionals on the square in the middle as well as the Happy Birthday part. And I used lots of buttons. I used Memento Ink to stamp with, it gives such a good image.

This is the inside...it's pretty plain, but ribbon and frills aren't good for boys..unless your into that, which is ok too.

Tonight we're making Halloween Dinner, so look for pictures of that tomorrow. So until then, Happy Halloween!

Halloween Costumes

So I said I'd have kitty pictures. Yes, we dressed them up for Halloween. It didn't go quite as smoothly as I had hoped.

This was pretty much the best shot we got.

It was going pretty well, so I thought I'd throw a pumpkin in for fun..they all bolted shortly after that. So the pumpkin was a no go.

Chip decided the weight of the costume was too much .

Aster couldn't walk, but he hobbled pretty fast. He was so pretty.

Mr. Bean was adorable in his Jesters hat..which is very appropriate for him..he's head clown around here.

I sort of wish they would wear the costumes a bit longer, but they don't like it at all. Oh well. I can only imagine what I'm going to do to a child if we ever have one.

That's it for now..look forward to Halloween dinner pictures from Saturday night..if you don't know, you can't imagine. Check back.

All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge-Halloween

All That Scraps does a weekly challenge on Wednesdays, and I'm going to participate. I do believe that last week was the first week, and I didn't know about it until Monday, and that didn't give me much time, so I just waited until today.

The challenge this week is to make a Halloween card. This is my entry.

The stamp is from the Ollie & Griselda set. I stamped it with Memento tuxedo black ink and colored it with copic markers.

I don't have a picture, but I'll list the colors I used. C3, C5, C 7, C9, YG23, YG25, G07, V95, V99, E33, E35, Y08, Y15. Pretty sure I got them all.

Anyway, that's pretty much it, probably tomorrow I'll have some kitty pictures. I know you're excited.

Blog Facelift

So I've done a bit of a face lift. I got a new blog template from Template-Mama. I like it..and it was easy, so there could be more changes in the future.
I would have a new entry for the Friday Sketch up by now..but AmyR must be very busy and hasn't posted one yet.
I do have some new cards in my Scrapjazz gallery, if anyone is just dying to see what I've been doing. I've been making Halloween cards, but I want to save some to participate in a sketch. But of course I'm running out of time, so I might have to just carry on without a sketch.
That's it for now. I've got lunch to make, and cookies to bake. Hooray Monday.

Friday Sketch AMYRS76

So I've decided to attempt to participate in Amy R's Friday Sketches. I follow her blog Prairie Paper & Ink on a regular basis. I've used some of her sketches before, but until now I've never had a blog to participate for real.

This is the October 16th sketch. You can link to the post here.

This would be my take on it. The stamp is C.C. Designs Sugarplums Witch Emma. I just love the Sugarplum stamps.

The sentiment on the inside is from the Ollie and Griselda set. I did a got these at All That Scraps.
Just to be complete, in case anyone wonders what copics I used to color Emma.
I'm still working on all the photo taking, so hopefully that will get better as we go along...but maybe it won't and you'll have to just go with the flow.

That's pretty much all I have for now. I'm working on more Halloween cards, and I'm not sure I'll finish in time, but we will see.

Home Again Home Again

Sorry folks about the lack of a final post on the vacation. But we got in last night, and unpacked, and played with our kitties who missed us..so I'm doing the post now.
I doubt anyone knows the song, but it's by Straylight Run, and it's called Your Name Here(Sunrise Highway) well it's a real place, so we went there...there's the street sign right there.

Ok, so while we were in Phildelphia we saw something crazy. You can see the other lanes of traffic, but you can see the one in the middle...those cars are parked there. It's all up and down the street here.
You could see this building as we were driving. I thought it looked cool, so I took a picture.

That's pretty much it. We're really glad to be home. Maybe I'll get that whale video up sometime.
But probably mostly I'm going to start putting up my scrapbooking stuff..and anything else interesting to me..

Long Island, NY

We took a ferry today from New London, CT to Orient Point, NY. Then we had to drive around the forks of Long Island to get to Montauk Point to see the lighthouse...which wasn't even open. I was so pissed.
Anyway, this is what the car ferry looked like. It was a pretty smooth ride. It took about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

You could see this lighthouse from the boat.

And this one.

And I suppose you could count this as a lighthouse. It was just off the shore of Orient Point.

This is the Montauk Lighthouse. Amazing.

We have no pictures from inside..but we do have pictures without a bunch of people heads in them.

I like this one.

Ok, yes it's what you are thinking. This is our hotel room, and I am standing in the shower, which is next to the bed. There are no words. I have never before seen something like this. New Yorkers are weird. The bathroom is on the other side of the wall..and there is no shower in there.

Can't wait to take a shower in the morning. So much for privacy.

Tomorrow we're driving off Long Island through New York City, just barely though. We're stopping in Edison NJ and then on to Phildelphia for our last night on vacation.

Cape Cod, MA

We learned and saw quite a lot today. This morning we went to a working cranberry bog and took a tour. The woman who gave the tour told us all about it from January to December. Later this afternoon we drove up the entire cape to Provincetown, and then back down to New London, CT.

This is a picture of one of the bogs. If we would have been here tomorrow or the next day we could have seen the traditional view of a bog, flooded with berries floating on the water. They were just starting to flood the land this week.

If you look close you can see a few berries floating. Cranberry plants are short scrubby plants. 90% of the year there is no water on the bogs.

Ha, this was for everyone who is disappointed there are no berries floating on the water. This is in a pond near the front of the farm.

This little dog, Gracie followed us all over the farm, we rode on a little tram thing, she would dig around in the water, then run after us.

This is the Highland Cape Cod Lighthouse. It is the oldest and biggest lighthouse on the cape. The ocean is behind us, 150 years ago the lighthouse stood where we were standing to take the picture. The erosion of the cliff caused the lighthouse to need to be moved back so it didn't topple off into the ocean.

We were about 2/3 the way up the lighthouse when we took this shot of the stairs. It was a tight fit to get to the upper level.

Jon in front of the lighthouse. It was chilly outside.

Me in front of the ocean. That sign says Danger, sliding cliffs.

This is the light. It blinks once every 5 seconds. It's a warning to the ships about the sandbars and such off shore.

Jonathan at the top.

Us at the top of the lighthouse.
Tomorrow we're taking a ferry from Connecticut to Long Island. We're going to see the Montauk Point Lighthouse. I'm really excited about it.

Boston, MA

Today we didn't have a bad drive either, and we got to do a couple of things today. We started off at the New England Aquarium, after a 2 hour drive around the city, thanks to Mr. Rodgers' excellent navigational skills.
We passed this church along the way, and I liked it, so I took a picture.

This was the view from the parking garage. The cost to park was just down right ridiculous. It was 30 dollars for over 80 minutes of parking.

Outside the back of the aquarium they had a fur seal tank. This guy was up out of the water, he was also the biggest.

This one loved that rock. He was scratching his neck on it, it was cute.

I don't know what this is, but it's pretty.

Sea Turtle, from the top of a 40 foot tall cylinder tank. The tank is the center of the aquarium.

Sting ray.

Can you see the Sea Dragon?

This sea turtle was resting on the rocks.

A group of fish in the huge tank.

All around the bottom of the 40 foot tall tank were penguins, lots of them.

Rock Hopper King of the mountain.

They had smaller tanks around the big one. Each tank focused on a specific region of ocean.

Us at the end of our visit. Honestly there wasn't that much to see. I think the aquarium at the Omaha Zoo is better, especially for the price. It was also really dark inside. I realize that it should be dim so you can see in the tanks. but it was really dark.

So on the way we stopped at Plymouth Rock. You just have to.

They Mayflower II. We didn't get on it, but we looked at it. I would hate riding all the way to America on that boat.

That it. Yep folks, that is Plymouth rock. It was down in a cage pretty much. The tide was out so there was no water around it. It says 1620 on the rock.

Us in front of the Mayflower II.
Tonight we're staying out on Cape Cod. Just outside of Harwich. Tomorrow we're going to tour a cranberry bog. YES! Maybe I'll get to boggercise..I hope so. We're also going up to the end of the cape to see a lighthouse. Tomorrow night we're staying in New London, CT
