Black and Gold Grad Invites

I hope everyone had a good Easter. And is going to have a good weekend. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

So I've been told these have gone out in the mail...and that means I can put them up here.
So I have a card for you.

Well actually they're graduation invites for my little sister's grad party. When I agreed to make them I didn't realize they would need 40...and actually she just put in a request for 5 more. I wish she wasn't so popular. Or that we didn't have a giant family.

The white paper is hand stamped using a set called Circle Circus. I love this set. Each one of the invites is just slightly different, this isn't Hallmark after all.

The Ray-Pec colors are black and gold. The gold is pretty much right on, and of course it is a discontinued color called Crushed Curry. They happened to have extra ink pad and ink fillers and paper and ribbon in the clearance section of Stampin Up, so I bought it like a crazy person..I didn't want to run out. So now I have 3 1/2 packs of paper and 3 spools of ribbon...left over...after all the cards are done.

This was the part that took the longest. It's one stamp, but I had to stamp it twice. Once for the bottom that I cut out with my scalloped circle punch. And once so I could just punch out the middle. I also punched a slightly larger circle in the Crushed Curry. The top is popped up with a couple of dimensionals. I sprayed each card with a little bit of Glimmer Mist, so they have just a hint of sparkle.

I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. She seemed to like them, so I count that as a win. I'm mostly excited that it will be at least 4 years until I might have to do it again for her college graduation.

I'm working on a few grad card, but I'm finding that craft time is a bit hard to come by. Zumba is definitely interfering...but I like it too much. My job I like less, so maybe I'll give that up....haha I wish.

Easter Card 2011

It's almost Easter..and I'm very excited because we're going to my mom's for brunch..yum!

I've got an Easter card to share today.

It's the only one I made this year and I sent it to my in-laws. The stamp is from All That Scraps and I've had it for a long time, but never used it. I actually put 2 stamps together. The girl is one stamp, and the stump and mushrooms are another. I masked the girl to put the stump underneath her. It worked perfectly!

I used my Cuttlebug on the yellow background and a paper piercer around the blue. That is a dangerous tool...a tiny super sharp pointy thing...love it! I used white flocking on her ears..which you can't see..sorry. But they look furry.

The inside I stamped one of the only Easter sentiments I have. And the duck and pond were also part of the stamp set. How cute is that duck!!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. We're headed to see my new baby neice today then off to help my mom cook for tomorrow...(again, yum!)

An Elephant Baby Card

I've got a card for you today.

Since the cat..or baby rather..is finally out of the bag I can post it.

My friend is pregnant and she just told everyone at work yesterday, so I made this card for her. She and her husband are not going to find out the baby's gender and it's KILLING ME!!
So I have to use green and brown..which I happen to love, but it would look much better with some pink or something. I'm definitely voting team pink of this one.

The stamp is Stampin Up and was actually part of a promotion..so it was free..and perfect for this. The patterned paper and ribbon are Pear Pizazz. I used my Cuttlebug on the brown piece. The buttons are from my giant box-o-buttons.

I used the same ticket corner punch on the inside as I did on the stamped part on the outside.

I was really happy with how it turned out. As I've mentioned before, I love making baby cards..they always turn out cute. I've been dying to put this on the blog.

It's another big day at Casa de Rodgers. We're getting our stove today. I'm headed to Zumba and it should be here when I get back. Yay! So maybe tomorrow I'll have some pictures.

My First Royals Game

This weekend was my 3-day weekend, which is wonderful! Jonathan and I went to the Royals game on Friday night. It was the first game I've ever been to. It would have been good, but if you recall, it was about 2 degrees and raining.

We had just gotten there and were checking out our seats. They were awesome...and if the weather had been nice it would have been a pleasant experience.

Here's a whole bunch of people rolling up the tarp that protects the dirt..it seemed kind of dumb because it just kept raining.

The first pitch. We were hanging out at the top of the section our seats were in because it was raining, and windy.

The National Anthem. It was really good.

It stopped raining for a while so we went down to our seats. But it started up again, so we only made it through 6 innings. I loved the giant screen! I never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually excited to go back in some nicer weather so we can enjoy the whole game.

We actually won the game. So maybe next time we go we'll win too.

I get 2 gold stars for an excellent attitude the whole time we were there. I want the weather to know that I spent a really long time straightening my hair for this. I was ready to be a Royals fan. Jon bought me a Royals shirt and I had a white headband and everything. But my rain coat it green, like the opposing team, oh well. Next time.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Easter is coming. I've got a card to post in the next few days. I finished all the grad invites, and I'll post them as soon as she mails them out...it was tough there at the end..I'm definitely glad to be finished with that project. But they did turn out really well.

Bride and Groom Hearts Card

It's been a while since I posted a card, so I thought I'd take a break from the home front updates.

A friend of mine is getting married, as I've mentioned. And we can't go because I have to work. So I make a card to send her.

I love how this turned out. It's simple, yet perfect for a wedding. I stole the idea from Dawn. She's got tons of great ideas. I changed it a bit to incorporate her wedding color, which is periwinkle..I think I got pretty close. I have limited resources..

I stamped a simple Congratulations and punched it out. It's popped up with dimensionals.

I used the Cuttlebug on the "bride" and on the background. I used my iRock to put the rhinestones on the dress.

The inside is plain, and blank. I can't decide if I'm going to put something in there or not. Words of wisdom for a happy marriage maybe. I think I'm definitely qualified to provide that kind of information...I think I have the best marriage.

That's it for now. We're waiting for the bedroom furniture to be delivered. I have to leave for work soon, I hope it gets here before I have to go.

Enjoy the beautiful Saturday.

Updating on the Home Front Part 2

I'm not dead, I swear. We've been busy though.

Removing carpet, removing paint from the floor, making 40 graduation invitations...more on that later.

So here's our hallway...taken from my room looking into our master bedroom. You can see that they had some sort of runner thing and the floor is worn, but that's ok with us. I don't want to cover it up. I think it's silly to have hardwoods and completely cover them. If you're gonna do that you might as well install carpet. I love the look of hardwoods, and I'm so happy we finally got rid of the carpet. We'll definitely have to refinish them, but that's for a later time.
(Can you see the OliverDog Butt? Isn't it cute? I'm hoping to get some video of him soon.)

Down the stairs. They are actually in worse shape than the rest of the floor..as far as we know. We haven't pulled up the carpet in our guest room, or in my room...why? well because there is furniture in those rooms...

Working on removing the paint from the floor...we taped the trim off (like they should have done in the first place...On the bright side, the paint comes right off. Jonathan is almost finished with our room..which is good because our new furniture comes on Saturday!!

It was pretty hot in the house this night. We don't turn on the air until July 4th...because I'm cheap. Shame on those of you who already have it on!
Chippy is not pleased with this arrangement.

It's too hot for him. Poor Chippy.

I've been busy in the studio. I've all but finished the 40 invites for my sister. All I need is the wording for the inside (hint hint!) Then I can be finished completely. It will be up to her to address the envelopes and such...the worst part.

I've got an Easter card completed that needs to be posted. I've got another card of top secret origin you can look forward to in the coming weeks. As soon as I'm done here I'm going to start on a wedding card for a friend of mine who is getting married in May. We can't attend the wedding because I have to work that weekend, I'm sad about that, but I'm still going to send her a card.

I'm working this weekend, but maybe I'll have some time to post the dishwasher (yay!) and our new bedroom furniture (double YAY!!)
