Festive Fluffles Extravaganza!

 Twas the day before Christmas..

HOLD ON A MINUTE!
Everyone needs to go here to the Some Odd Girl Blog and scroll down and look at MY card..I love seeing my work somewhere other than my own blog!  I was picked as a random winner from the Holiday Blog Hop.  I didn't win the category I entered...but winning a little something, and getting recognition is still WAY awesome!!

But now we've still got cards to show!
Well, you're in luck, because today we are having a just before Christmas Festive Fluffles Extravaganza!

I made Fluffles orange this time, the gray just didn't look right on the vanilla paper.  But Chippy has been pretty bad this year, so it's fitting.

But Bean has by far been the worst.

I love the sparkle!

I love this image, because I am a huge present shaker..and I'm pretty good at it.  Jon has had to get devious to hide things from me around Christmas time.

I added a little bling with my iRock to this one.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday so far.  Tonight we're headed to my Grandmother's for dinner with the family, and a gift exchange.  Then tomorrow, it's more family...we love family.

Merry Christmas!

Oh Come Let Us Adore Him!

I know I've missed a couple days, but I have a plan, and we're going to get through all of these!  They are all completed, and man it was down to the wire.

I made a card like this one before, but I really like it, so I made it again.  I used a brayer (read: rolly thing) to do the background.  It's on shiny paper.

I embossed the images which is from the Come to Bethlehem stamp set from Stampin Up!

The set has a few sentiments, but I liked this one.

I do believe this is # 14, so 6 more on our journey to Christmas Day!

It's my Friday, and you can't know how happy I am about it.  I have managed to get myself a 4 day weekend.  So far, it's looking like every second of it is going to be filled.  Oh well.

Deer Mae-Some Odd Girl Blog Hop

You know how we roll here..it's another card on my quest to 20!

But actually, today is a little bit different.  Some Odd Girl is having a blog hop..and they're going to let anyone play!  And today, that anyone is ME!  I'm entering my Deer Mae Card in the Hop as well as specifically the *Non Traditional* category.  I think it's out of the ordinary as far as Christmas cards go...I mean, it's not red and green, it's blue..and well brown, because deer are brown.

I love the brown and lime green combo, and I wanted to use that in the papers as well.  The paper is from the 12 Days of Christmas pack by My Mind's Eye.  I can't get enough of their paper!  My sentiment is from a set that came from All That Scraps last year, or maybe the year before.  Hehe, Deer Freind..crafters are funny too!

I colored her with my Copics.  I am in love with these images, they are so fun, and they always turn out so cute.

I kept is simple on the inside, as usual.  I used the same idea as far as the paper goes.

For those of you keeping track, this brings my tally up to lucky #13...maybe I'll be lucky enough to get picked to win the category..they are giving away some awesome stuff!  7 more to go!

Thanks for stopping by.

Joy for Baby Jesus Card

Santa's got nothing on me.  I'm nearly finished..and it's going to be down to the wire.  I've got 4.5 more cards to make and only another day or so to do it in.

But I have several more to show you, so on let's get on with it.

This is a stamp set I used last year.  I like it, it's simple and cute at the same time.

Colored with Copics and punched out with a new Spellbinders die I got last weekend.  I think the star brad really makes it!

I kept with a pretty neutral sentiment.

Woot, #12, this means 8 more to go.

Teal Snowflake Card

Another day, another Christmas card.

It's the final card in my Snowflake Series. It sound designer and fancy that way.  This one is also different I assure you...it's teal.

She also has a lot of bling that you can't really appreciate in a photo.  The lace behind her is also sort of shimmery.

I came across some ink that matched the paper perfectly.  It's sort of like a small victory when I don't use Stampin Up products and find something that matches really well.

So, it's my weekend to work, but I'm still trying to make it through the last few cards.

This makes card #11, we're on the down hill slide with 9 more to go.

Winter Mae Christmas Card

Guess what we've got going on today?  If your guess was another card, you are the winner!

This one actually turned out to be one of my favorites.  She was the hardest to color..I managed to limit myself to just 2 colors when I made my paper choices..I didn't realize this until I was half way through coloring her.

The image is a digital image called Winter Mae from Some Odd Girl, and the paper is all from an Echo Park paper pad, Winter Park to be specific.  It has tons of blue paper...which as we all know is my favorite to do Christmas and winter cards from.

I used the background paper on the inside, I figured you couldn't really appreciate it way in the back, and I really like it, so I brought it front and center here on the inside.

This marks card #10, which means we are half way!  10 more to go!

Have a happy Friday.

Purple and Black Snowflake Card

It's been a very busy couple of days, but we must plow forward...with another card.

It's another snowflake card.  I mentioned that I had some more of these.  I know you're saying, hey this looks a lot like that other card..I assure you, it's different.  See, this one is purple.

This one is way more sparkly.  I took some inspiration from one of our Christmas trees.  I love the purple and black combo.

A very witty snow sentiment on the inside.

This makes card #9, so that means 11 more to go.  I'm hopefully going to have a blog post a day, because there is only 10 days until Christmas...holy cow! Where did the time go?
Actually I'll probably have 2 on some days, because there is an Oliver update due...but more on that later.

It's almost Friday!

Joy To The World, It's a Christmas Card

 I've got another mutie today!

It's mostly masculine, except for the poinsettia stickers...but men can like poinsettias too.

I used the stamp set The Sounding Joy from Stampin Up!  It's got all the words to Joy to The World..in case you forget this season, this card has your back!

My patterned paper came from Hobby Lobby.  And of course, as usual the solid paper is Stampin Up!I stamped everything in Chocolate Chip ink, as well as sponged the edges.

The inside sentiment is from the same stamp set.

I'm working this weekend, which means that I get the next 2 days off..Oliver's recheck is tomorrow, but once we're done with that I'll be back here in the card shop..We're getting there.

This makes card #8....12 more to go.

A Holly Jolly Christmas Card

I've got a slightly more traditional card today. Well it's red and green at least.

The stamp is from Some Odd Girl. I'm officially addicted. These images are such fun to color, and they turn out so cute.

The paper came from Michael's. I wanted some red and green paper that wasn't necessarily Christmasy. I'm pretty pleased with how it came out.

I kept the inside pretty simple. Simple is usually best.

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.  I do believe this is lucky #7...13 more to go!

Pink Snowflake Card

Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

I've got a very pink card for you today.

I am in love with these new stamps from All that Scraps. And I much prefer snowflakes to Christmas trees and holly..

I love sparkle!!

I kept the inside pretty plain, but I had some snowflake stamps that seemed perfect.

I've got a couple more of these stamps that I'm excited to use.

I think this is card #6, which means 14 more to go!

Luxating Patella Surgery-Post Op Week 7

So we're taking a break from our Christmas programming.

If you're following along at home, you know that it's been 7 weeks since Oliver's luxating patella surgery. And if you've been to my home lately, you know that he is ready to go! He's definitely over being under recovery status.

We have 1 more week. Our recheck appointment is next Wednesday. Everyone here at Casa de Rodgers is excited, and hoping for full activity level status. Not that we don't love the Olliedog, but carrying him up and down the stairs, and inside, and outside, and up on the sofa, then off the sofa, then on the sofa, no wait, off the sofa...well you get the idea. We're all ready for things to get back to normal.

But before it was more normal, it wasn't quite right.

As I mentioned in one of my previous surgery posts, our discharge vet at MU, was well..less than helpful. She certainly put the fear into me. So, we haven't been letting Oliver do much of anything, except walk around the house. He hadn't been on walks or to PetSmart or to Grandma's or anything. At 5 weeks post surgery he still wasn't using his right leg. We're talking like 20% or less on his own around the house. So being the crazyfreakingoutdogowner that I am, I called the clinic to see if I was doing something wrong. I wanted to make sure that he wasn't damaging his left leg by only using it all the time. He was getting around just fine on 3 legs. Well of course MU wanted to see him right away (this is the Tuesday before Thanksgiving) so we didn't go. She wouldn't tell me anything over the phone. This left me to my own devices. We started walking him twice a day, super short at first, and now we're up to the entire street. It's been 2 weeks of this, and he's up to 90% usage on his own! I know, I'm awesome.

He has a skip step or two still. I know we have a long way to go, but this is real progress here. Once we get the activity level ok, we're going to work more on making his muscles stronger so we can get back to agility training. We all miss it very much. He'll be needing his agility getaway more than every I'm sure when little sister comes...

Scenic Season Christmas Card

I've got another card today.

We had a pretty busy weekend. We did a fair amount of shopping. I'm almost completely finished..I can't say the same for Jon. He promises that he isn't going to wait until the 23rd, but I don't know that I believe him.

Anyway, I've got a sort of manly card for today.

It doesn't necessarily have to be manly..my mom calls them muties..like muted colors. I used the Scenic Season stamp set from Stampin' Up!. The paper is left over from last year. I sponged the edges...you know, for ruggedness. And added twine, because twin says, this is a man card, no sissy ribbon here.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

I used the same die cut for the inside. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

I promised pictures of our trees and such, but I'm a few tree skirts short...and we can't have tree nakedness on the internet. I'm hoping to remedy the situation this week, so maybe later this week I can show you how our house has become a winter wonderland.

I do believe this is card number 5, which means 15 more to go!

Sugarplums Ornament Card

Ok, we're back with another exciting edition of the Race to Finish the Christmas Cards.

I'm still in the single digits folks, this is bad news...but I'm working toward my goal of 20 cards..so on with the show.

I love this little fairy. I have the plain every day version as well. She's from All That Scraps, CC Designs Sugarplums. Some of the paper is left over from last year, and some of it is new this year from Hobby Lobby. The solid paper is my standard Stampin' Up cardstock.

I colored her with Copics to match the paper.

I kept the inside theme similar to the outside.

This is card number 4, 16 more to go!

Some Odd Girl Challenge-Recipe 11-27-11

Ok, 2 post in one day, I know, unheard of..but I simply couldn't wait.

It's been forever (or maybe longer) since I've participated in a challenge. Well, I've stumbled across this great line of stamps. I can't believe I didn't find them sooner. Anyway, so they do challenges on the blog. This week it's a recipe challenge.

The blog is Some Odd Girl Blog, and the stamps are adorable! I got mine on Friday, which is why I wanted to get this up today, to enter the challenge. So here we go!

The recipe is: 2 pattern papers + colored cardstock base (NO KRAFT OR WHITE BASE) + buttons + punch/die cut = your card.
It has to include everything, but can have more, so my recipe was:
3 patterned papers: from MME 12 Days of Christmas paper pack
Colored cardstock base: Pool party, from Stampin' Up
Buttons: from my giant stash, that I will never use up..I'm glad I got to use a few here!
Die cut: I used Labels 4 from Spellbinders
I used the image and sentiment from Tree Trimming Kaylee

I couldn't wait to get coloring. This just might make me enjoy making Christmas cards.

I used some of the paper scraps on the inside.

This makes 3 cards down, and 17 to go. Look for several more Some Odd Girl Christmas cards coming to a blog near you.

Fall Flower Birthday Card

Wow! Has it been a busy week! We hosted our first successful Thanksgiving at our house. Thursday night we went to my sister's house to be with my dad's family. We had a good time. It was nice to see everyone, and to play with baby Brooklyn.

Thursday we had my family over. It ended up being 15 people total. The turkey was perfect! I was very nervous about cooking one. My mom and KTO were a great help, and I couldn't have done it without them. I also couldn't have done it without my awesome husband and his awesome cleaning skills!

So I promised this earlier this week, so here it is.

A birthday card for my mommy.

I used paper from the paper pack Affinity by the Paper Studio. I am in love with it. The ribbon is Stampin' Up! and just happened to match the paper and flowers...which is from the same product line.

I used paper from the front on the inside.

Jonathan and I took her to dinner for her birthday. It was a good time.

Another thing that we accomplished this weekend, we got the trees up. We have 3 this year. A 7.5 foot, a 6 foot and a 4 foot. Each one is different, but has it's own theme. I'm planning to show you, but I need to have a nice day with some good light for the living room before that can happen.

What I will be showing you though, is more cards. I have 1 complete ready for posting, and I'm working on another...the stuff is all over my desk. I have to go, so I can finish it :-)

A Frosty Holiday Card

Oh it must be a Christmas miracle..

I've got the 2nd Christmas card today.

And as you might have guessed, it's blue! Blondes look good in blue. You'll be happy to know I'm currently working on a red and green card...I might finish it tomorrow..or not.

I used my Cuttlebug to cut out the ovals, and to emboss the snowflakes under the ribbon. I added Stickles to her boots and the snow. And more bling for her earrings.

I kept the inside similar to the outside.

I think it turned out pretty good...but winter blue cards are easy.

I'm not having such luck with the next card.

2 down, 18 to go!

Fluffles Ornament Card

So I know that 2 posts in 2 days doesn't really make up for a complete lack of posts for 2 weeks, but hey, I'm trying here.

As I said yesterday, I've got 20 Christmas cards on my plate this year. Well it's going to be particularly difficult because I don't really like making Christmas cards...I don't like the color red..and I definitely don't like it with green. I like blue though, and frosty winter stuff, so there's going to be quite a bit of that. You've been warned.

And since this is going to be difficult, I'm going to take all the help I can get. I happened to have made a card last year that I never sent. Well waste not want not...so I'm going to use it this year.

Oh Fluffles! I love him. I'd bet that there will at least be a few more Fluffles cards coming this year. See, blue. I like blue.

Christmas is also the time I usually have to visit my Copic markers. I've gotten out of practice that's for sure. I made another card last night (maybe I'll post it this weekend) and my coloring is better than it used to be..but no where near as good as I'd like it to be.

I think this was one of the first cards I shot with my new camera.

Team Rodgers is going to be very busy in the next week. (I'm going to try really hard to get that other Christmas card up here..I've got a birthday card too, but that can't go up until Tuesday) I'm working this weekend, and we're hosting Thanksgiving. So this means that my days off will be filled with cooking and prepping..and sadly, not cardmaking. We're attending a turkey day on Thursday, hosting on Friday, then on Saturday and Sunday we'll be doing damage control and putting up our Christmas Trees. Trees. Yeah, as in more than one. More like 3, Mr. Christmas will be so happy this year.

So this is me apologizing if we have no time to come up for air this week.

Enjoy your turkey!

Jessica
