A Very Sassy Card

I was fairly productive on my days off this week.

I made this card, and I think it's really cute...and sassy.

The stamp is from The Greeting Farm, from the Cheeky Cherry Collection. They are very pin-up-girl-ish and I love them. I plan on making lots more things with them. The paper is from *gasp* a new stack I was dying to use.

Here's a closer shot of her. She's just adorable. And this is probably one of the only cards I didn't use pop dots on..

As usual when I don't have a plan I keep the inside very simple. This could be a birthday card, or just a note to a friend even though sending snail mail seems to be a lost art.

I'm working all weekend, but I've built up a little stash I can post on..so hopefully I can find some time to do that.

Something Special Just for You!

Well, maybe not for you, but for someone someday I hope.

I'm working on building my stash, and I prefer to make cards than to actually finish my vacation scrapbook, like I should be doing. (don't tell!) It's actually sort of sad, we took this trip in October, and the book isn't finished yet. I also decided to make a scrapbook of every year of our married life..well year one is finished, and year two is coming to a close in October, but the book is not started yet. So I'm backlogged about 10 months.

So instead of working on what I should be working on, I made this card to show you.

It's a stamp I bought before we moved in May and I never had a chance to use it..so now is the time.
It's a Swiss Pixie stamp from All That Scraps. And I think she is adorable.

Closer. I put Stickles on her wings, and just a bit on the flower petals. Really the reason I made this card was because I got a new paper stack from Hobby Lobby and I love it and wanted to make something with it right away. My vacation book is only using papers from another "earthy" colored stack..but I needed to make something bright and happy.

I kept the inside pretty simple. The card stock base is a retired SU! color..barely banana I think..
If I use this card myself it will probably become a birthday card or something. But it could be used for many things really.

I've been digging into some stamps I haven't had a chance to use yet, so watch out!

Because Everybody's Doing It...

Everyone always shows their scrap room, so I thought I would to. I've finally got it mostly finished, and hopefully there won't be any major renovations after this point.
Please keep hand and feet inside the tram at all times...


Here's sort of an overview shot from the door. It's dark, but it looked worse with the flash, so we'll all just have to use our imaginations for the remainder of the tour.

Here is the other section of the room...it's a really great room.


My desk is 8 feet long and 30 inches wide. My husband built it, you can see how here on his new blog. It is absolutely perfect for everything I need. It holds my Cricut, my Gypsy, my drawers with my Cricut/Cuttlebug acessories, my Copic markers, I have a cutting mat, my paper trimmer, my pens, pencils and a ruler, my Cuttlebug, current paper I'm working with, my acrylic blocks and black ink, my tin with stamped images to be colored/used, my current photo album, envelopes, and a cute picture of me and my husband.
The sad part is all that stuff is the most often used stuff that needs to be on the desk, I have a whole bunch of other crap that I need the rest of the room for.

Like my paper racks. These actually only hold my Stampin Up paper, I just got the second rack this weekend...woot. I also keep my paper stacks on top of them, and my embellishments drawers.
I realize I have a problem...
On with the tour!

Ribbon storage. I stole this idea from someone's scrap room..it's actually a pantry storage thing, but works absolutely wonderful for ribbon..I'm going to be needing a second one.

Underneath that is all the drawers I started scrapping with. When this whole mess got started it was just the big drawer on the bottom, and one set of 3 drawers...When everything was stacked together while we lived at the apartment it was over 6 feet tall. Jonathan build the cart underneath it..it has wheels so I could move it about the apartment...that was great until I realized I could just take over his desk. He's much happier now that I have my own room. :-)

I have a bulletin board with random stuff. My wedding veil, my bouquet is on the shelf above this. Pictures of my niece and nephew, my cats, my CLS classmates, my husband, my Cricut Circle certificate and a few business cards.

My shelves came from Lowes, and I love them for storing my Cricut cartridges, my flowers, the Gypsy box I'm not ready to part with and pictures and other random things on top.

My communication center (oh yes we have a high tech system going on here) It's got a very long list of scrapbook pages I need to make, as well as upcoming cards that I'm going to be needing. And a little section where I write what I need to buy at the store...the current item being a Martha Stewart punch that I can't find anywhere!

A Random Post Full of Excitement

Today's post is partly random, and yet there is a purpose.

I have a couple pictures of my Bean cat, because I think he is adorable, even though he's usually more trouble than he is worth...but anyway.
Last night I was laying on the sofa and he was behind the curtains, so we were playing...he would peak around the curtains and try to bite me..yeah he's a biter.

This was taken a couple of weeks ago I guess. He jumped in the window and it closed a bit on him.. we heard a slamming sound (old windows make big noises) and this is what we saw. He had to stay there a few moments while I went to get the camera..and I don't feel bad about it.


Because I think he's so cute I made a kitty card using my Cricut and my Gypsy..there was really no need for the Gypsy, but I like using it. :-)

Here's a closer shot. I ended up using this as a Thank You card. It's simple, but I think it's cute, because it's supposed to look like Bean.

Here's what I'm really excited about. It's a set of 8 owl cards. They're 3x3 which is perfect for just a little note, like thank you cards or something. I think I'm going to get into this set making thing...it's pretty much great for all occasions..like birthday (you could put a cake on it) or bridal or baby showers (think wedding ring, the word baby, or a rubber duck) yeah the possibilities are endless. And it was so easy. I made the files on my Gypsy during my dinner break at work, then I cut them out when I got home.
I might start making them for myself to use with my monogram on them or something..oh the brainstorming!

That's pretty much it for today. Totally random I know. But I can't just sit on these pictures, I'll forget about them.

Hopefully I'll have lots of time to make stuff this weekend. Woot.

A Birthday Take on The Southwest

So today I bring you a different kind of paper project.
As I mentioned before my sister-in-law's birthday is this week..and as you may or may not have seen the awesome (if I do say so myself) fairy card I made for her..because that is the theme of her room.
Well...she sings in a Christian rock band and has taken to the stage name "Arizona" so that is the theme for her birthday I guess. We're giving her one of Jonathan's southwestern looking belt buckles that is too small for such a large man..but is great for a 17 year old girl. Well we needed something to put it in..and this morning I had a vision.

I don't usually do "southwest" type things, but I think this color combo works. I used my Gypsy (more on that later) and my Cricut to cut out the box and the tags.
Here's a shot from the top. The tags are 3 circles, a brown one, a blue one and a cream one. well I used the Gypsy to put a letter in the center of the cream circle! Ha..it's the best thing ever!

The R is for Rachel.

And the A is for Arizona! A vision I tell you!

She's still getting the fairy card..and that's just too bad.

Anyway, I just wanted to post this super quick, but now I have to get ready for work.

A Mermaid Thank You

I've discovered that when I have a long weekend I get much more crafting done. I need long weekends every weekend.

I made this one earlier this weekend.

I love mermaids.

Sweet November Stamps has come out with these really cute mermaids. I ordered a couple of them..and just love them. The patterned paper came from JoAnns, but the rest of the cardstock was just some scraps I had laying around. The sentiment is from an Ocean set from All That Scraps as well.

Here's a close up. The best part about mermaids is that you can cover them in Stickles.
I kept the inside sort of plain, because it will be a thank-you card some day and I like to have room to write. Or if I give it to someone, I anticipate they will want room to write.

Becaue It's My Birthday Today...

A GYPSY!


This is my Gypsy. It's a scrapbooking toy (of course) and it works with my Cricut. It's a digital and portable way to design layouts to cut with the Cricut. You load all the cartridges you have to the Gypsy and there you can look at all of them, mix and match images, size them, preview them, weld letters and images together..it's pretty much endless. You plug it in to the Cricut when your done, and it will cut with out having to switch the cartridges. I guess that sounds kind of confusing but it's going to make my life so much easier! Plus, it's cool.

Here's a shot of the screen. That's what the Cricut cutting mat looks like, so you can easily see how big the image is going to be. Most images have layers, you can look at all the layers at once, and cut all the layers at once, and this is greatly going to reduce my error rate. Nobody likes it when their Cricut outsmarts them...well that won't be me anymore!
It's pretty simple to use, you can pretty much pick it up and start, but there are some lovely ladies out there that have made some awesome tutorials, so they've been helping me get the most out of it. I love it already.

So, on to the cards.
These are a few I've had in my stash for about a week. I didn't use they Gypsy for these, but I like them anyway.

My sister-in-law's birthday is coming up, so this one is for her. I'm actually a little sad to part with it. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

The image is by Sweet Pea Stamps, which I think is my new favorite place to get stamps. The paper is from Hobby Lobby. The flowers are Prima. I cut the little flourish with my Cricut. (I burned about half a piece of paper trying to size it right..muhaha not going to happen anymore).

I made the inside look like the outside, because I just love that dot paper.


So I have a second card today as well.

No help from any machines here..except my trusty paper trimmer, and my new Glue Glider Pro.

I was hoping the Stickles would show up better, but oh well. The moon is light grey, it doesn't really look like it's colored here. I spent a lot of time, and ink, making the background the right color...I didn't think it was going to be that difficult, but I was wrong. I think it turned out pretty good though.

I've been making some cards today too, but that's for another time.

We're going to dinner tonight, and maybe watching a movie when we get home. I get a whole long weekend to just veg...and play with the Gypsy.

Couldn't ask for more.

A Baptism Card

Hey I'm doing pretty good on this posting thing. Today is the first day of my 3 day weekend, so I'll be turning out some cards, hopefully..and some serious yard work(not so hopefully).
My sister-in-law was baptized on July4th. I needed inspiration for this card, but no one makes baptism cards I guess, and all the commercial companies only make them for babies. Well I was not going to let this card making opportunity pass me by.

So this is what I came up with, and I'm really happy with it..I was sort of sorry to see it go.

The "Faith" is courtesy of my Cricut. I embossed the white background with my Cuttlebug, and the pink ribbon is something I originally bought for my wedding. There's also a little bit of white ribbon tied with it, but it's pretty hard to see.

Here's a closer shot of the "Faith". The paper is SU!, Whisper white and I can't remember the name of the pink...terrible I know.

Anyway, I've just gotten some new stamps in (fairies and mermaids) so I'm pretty excited to get in there and start coloring.

A Few From the Open House

So I finally got some time to do an update here..

So like I said I would, here are a few pictures from our Open House last weekend. We only took a few, and certainly didn't get everyone, but we were busy busy showing everyone around that day.
You'll see a common theme here, my little brother (the one with the mountain man beard) is in most of these pictures..not really sure how that happened.

I saved the best for last, that's my mom, and I'm sure she's so proud. I'm not really sure what's in his mouth, since he's a vegan he doesn't eat much of anything, it might be celery.

We had a great time, it was so wonderful that everyone came out that day, even though it was super hot.

Our house has slowly gotten messier now, but oh well. We've still got a long way to go, especially on the yard.
