A Sympathy Card

It's Friday, and I'm thankful.

It's been a really long week. Last weekend Jonathan and I purchased a dishwasher. It was delivered yesterday, and then it was returned to the store because it wouldn't fit in our kitchen. Apparently our counter top is a few inches too short. We just can't catch a break. Everything the previous owners did was screwed up. We're supposed to be getting a hutch for the dining room delivered today, so hopefully that's what will be on the blog tomorrow..if anything goes wrong there I might have a melt down. We're in the process of pulling up the carpet in the whole upstairs. The boys have ruined it, and we never wanted carpet anyway. The hardwoods are in pretty good shape, except there is about a half inch of white paint all around the edge on the floor where they painted the baseboards...lazy bastards didn't bother to tape or anything! Who the hell paints on 80 year old hardwood floors?

Tomorrow is shaping up to be a much better day. I'm going to Zumba in the morning with my sister, then Jon and I are going to pick up some hosta from a co-worker friend of mine who is splitting hers, then it's Oliver's first Advanced Training Class. I'm going to make a delicious dinner, watch a movie, and try to forget about the paint on the floor.

In the middle of all this, I managed to finish a card I've been working on for probably 2 weeks...I don't know where the time goes...

I had some suggestions to make some sympathy cards, so I thought I'd give it a shot. For a first attempt, it's not half bad. Sympathy cards are definitely something I wouldn't want to make in a pinch, seeing as how this one took 2 weeks for no particular reason.
All the paper is from a Basic Grey stack, and the brads are part of a coordinating set. The stamp is from AmyR's Sympathy set, and I colored it with Stamp and Write markers.

I distressed this puppy within an inch of it's life.

I modeled the inside after the outside.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'm putting it up for sale in my Etsy shop.

Spring is the season for card making, I've got several things in my queue. Mother's Day is coming up, and KT's graduation is also quickly approaching. I'm working on some par-tay invites for her, which I won't post until they've been mailed out.

I hope everyone has a good Friday, and a great weekend. I hope the weather cooperates.

Jessica
