Plane Birthday Card

Hey, so I haven't done this in a while...
Look!
A card..
I did this one for a friend of mine's little boy who turned 2 in October.  Aurora was lucky enough to get an invite to his super cool plane themed party.  His mom did a great job..and set the bar high for A's first birthday.
I used the Cricut to cut the plane pieces.  I hand drew the clouds and added some white flocking to make them fluffy!

I used silver embossing powder to make the propeller shiny..we don't have the technology to make it spin.

I've been working really hard on A's baby book..it's coming along nicely.  I've got a card or two on the horizon...but I'm betting baby pictures make it on here first.

New Year's Birthdays

I'm not late yet...it's still January..for a few more days.

My sister and my mother-in-law have birthdays that are very close together, so I thought we'd have a little 2 for 1 special.

My sister turned 20 this year..which is ridiculous.

She likes the outdoors, so I made flowers.  I made the leaves pop up, mostly because I thought it was cute.
It's sparkly, I got a new product, so I've been using it a lot...Perfect Pearls are fun!
I filled the card with a bunch of confetti with the numbers 1 to 20 stamped on them.

My mother-in-law had a birthday recently as well.  This tea set stamp is one of my favorites.

And Perfect Pearls makes it so much better!

I kept the inside pretty simple.

Team Rodgers went on vacation over the new year break...that will be next.
My coworker had her very adorable baby, so I made a very adorable card for that baby, but of course, you'll have to wait until it reaches its recipient before it gets put here on the blog.

Happy Tuesday.

The Dad's Birthday Card Blowout

Two birds, one stone.
I made some cards this fall for my Dad, and FIL birthdays.
Man-cards are really difficult, as we've discussed before..no bows, jewels, or ribbon..lame!

I made this one for my Father-in-law.

I've never used this stamp set, but I really like how it turned out.

I made this one for my dad.  His birthday is the day before Halloween.
I ran the whole thing through my Cuttlebug to get the texture.

I've got a few more cards to show.  I've got a baby card on deck, those are my favorite for sure.
Maybe we'll have a little Christmas Spectacular of my adorable dogs before Christmas gets here.

Peacock Birthday Card

I'm trying to do my Blogger duty and get some posts up.  It's been crazy busy, as usual...and computing just isn't high on the list...playing games and facebook, yes, editing and posting photos..not so much.
My mother had a birthday a few weeks back, so I made her a card..which is about all she'll let you do.

She loves peacocks...so much that she's dedicated an entire new house to them.

And I like shiny...oooh pretty. I used my iRock to set the gems, so they never come off...it's so much easier than trying to glue them.

The inside is pretty simple, you know for a nice birthday greeting.

The holiday season is quickly approaching.  Team Rodgers put up the tree this week...with way more help than we needed.  We're preparing for the last agility trial of the year. We've taken our Christmas card photos, and they're being printed right now, so look for them in a mail box near you.

Birthday Card Catch Up

Man! I am really terrible at this whole blog thing.
To be honest, I haven't had much time to craft, or anything else for that matter.  Team Rodgers is up to their eyeballs in weekend activities.  Lately dog stuff has consumed a fair amount of time..next week is the big Agility Trial..so be on the look out for that.
On the home front, we've gotten new kitchen counter tops..and we couldn't be happier!  I'll post some before and after shots of that.  We're also knee deep in refinishing our hardwood floors...I can't give a final report yet...day 1 didn't go so well..but there will be more on that as well.
I'm backlogged in cards.  I have been making a few.
Today is a helping of birthday cake, er, card.

I made this one for my friend at work.
She's getting older, like really old, so I thought I'd bring back the color combos from her youth.  Well I used my youth as an example.  I loved bright pink and blue and such when I was about 13 I think.  Who am I kidding, I still love this combo!

All the paper is Stampin Up, because that's how I roll.

Hopefully all that cake..er cards will hold you over until I can get something else up here.  I've got a birthday card from Jon's birthday too..so we've got the potential to have a few posts this week...

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend..looks like Fall is finally here for real in KC.

Lego Birthday Card

So, I'm back on the card wagon.
I had a request to make a birthday card for a little guy who is having a Lego birthday.

So, I made a Lego card.  It was going to be easy when I started..turned out to be a mathematical nightmare. I guess we all need a little fraction to decimal practice every now and then.

I used my Cricut to cut out the letters for his name, and a teeny tiny stamp for the Happy Birthday.

I also used the Cricut for the 9..he's going to be nine. Cool right?

I hope he likes it..he's 9, I'm sure he will :-)

Team Rodgers is gearing up for a little excitement this weekend, we're planning to go to the Midwest Balloon Fest..weather permitting.
So look for hopefully some nice pictures of it.

I Know It's Not January Birthday Card

I am a terrible blogger.  But I am telling you, this tiny tot is keeping us so busy, we don't have time for much else.

I have a card that's a bit overdue, but I'm just getting all the pictures loaded off the camera..so overdue or not, here it is.

It was for KTO's 19th birthday, which was in January..but you know how it goes.  She got it on time..and we can pretend I got it on the blog in a timely manner. The paper is from a paper stack, the image is a digital Some Odd Girl image. KT loves penguins, so I thought this one was perfect.

The rhinestones are from my stash.

I'm hoping to have a whole week of updates..I've got lots of new pictures of the Tot, and some updates, and I even have a few cards ready to go up.

Cora is adorable, but a ton of work!  I'm hoping to get some more craft time this next week.

Happy Monday!

Fall Flower Birthday Card

Wow! Has it been a busy week! We hosted our first successful Thanksgiving at our house. Thursday night we went to my sister's house to be with my dad's family. We had a good time. It was nice to see everyone, and to play with baby Brooklyn.

Thursday we had my family over. It ended up being 15 people total. The turkey was perfect! I was very nervous about cooking one. My mom and KTO were a great help, and I couldn't have done it without them. I also couldn't have done it without my awesome husband and his awesome cleaning skills!

So I promised this earlier this week, so here it is.

A birthday card for my mommy.

I used paper from the paper pack Affinity by the Paper Studio. I am in love with it. The ribbon is Stampin' Up! and just happened to match the paper and flowers...which is from the same product line.

I used paper from the front on the inside.

Jonathan and I took her to dinner for her birthday. It was a good time.

Another thing that we accomplished this weekend, we got the trees up. We have 3 this year. A 7.5 foot, a 6 foot and a 4 foot. Each one is different, but has it's own theme. I'm planning to show you, but I need to have a nice day with some good light for the living room before that can happen.

What I will be showing you though, is more cards. I have 1 complete ready for posting, and I'm working on another...the stuff is all over my desk. I have to go, so I can finish it :-)

A Leafy Birthday Card

I've been a bad bad blogger.

I don't really have an excuse..it's been gloomy, and I'm tired.

I did make a birthday card for my father-in-law, his birthday was last week.
I apologize for the picture quality, they're worse than usual..that guy I live with took these because the light was terrible the night I finished the card, so he took it the next morning.

I love fall..since it's a fall birthday, I used fall colors.

I made the leaves. I painted watercolor paper, stamped and cut out the leaves then I used extra thick embossing powder, so they're like leaf chips. I think they're cool.

I have another birthday card done, I just need some good light to take a photo of it (hoping for a light box for Christmas this year...)
And then I've agreed to make 20 Christmas cards for my mother this year...so look for those coming to a blog near you.

**An Oliver Update**
He's doing great, thanks for everyone who's been concerned. This Tuesday was 4 weeks post surgery. His fur is slowly (I mean really slowly) growing back in. His incisions are healed. He's using both legs, but he still definitely prefers the left leg to the right. The vet clinic called last week to ask about him, and I asked them about the leg preference, and they said so far that was fine. He is in fact using it more than he was last week, so we're watching for more and more improvement over the next few weeks. His recheck appointment is December 14th, which is 8 weeks and 1 day post surgery. We're hoping for full activity status by then. Not that we don't love carrying him around, but it's starting to be a real hassle. Full activity status is important, because he's bored to death, and because Cora is coming soon (more on that later).

Watercolored Fall Birthday Card

I'm on a roll this week!

I ended up with the day off today, so I'm spending a little time in my fishbowl. This morning Tim the Trainer came over for a little backyard agility. Dogtober Fest is this weekend and he is part of the agility exhibition with his 3-legged dog Dixie. Dixie is good, but today Oliver was really on his game. He even tackled the A-frame. It's a shame he'll be benched for 8 weeks after his surgery.

Today I have a fall birthday card.

I made this for a friend's mom. The stamp is a 2-step stamp, and I sort of used a watercolor technique...I painted directly on the stamp before I stamped it to the paper. I love this shade of purple, but rarely have an excuse to use it.

It's pretty simple, but that's what I think of when I think of moms, pretty and simple.

I echoed the front on the inside, leaving plenty of room for a nice birthday message.

We're planning on going to Dogtober Fest this Sunday to see what it's all about. It will be sort of a final fling for Oliver. I'm also hoping that he will be really tired so he will sleep on the car ride to Columbia.

Circle Circus Birthday

I haven't been a very good blogger lately. Sorry.

I haven't been a very good crafter lately either. We've been busy. I have some zoo photos I hope to get up here later this week. Because this weekend is Irish Fest! And I'll have tons of photos from there. AND we're down to less than a month before we go on vacation. You know there will be an option to follow along on this blog.

For today, I have a birthday card.

I apologize in advance for the yellow-ness of my pictures. Sorry. I keep wishing for a light box, but it keeps not happening. Someday maybe.

I made this one for my friend Lauren. It turned out to be a really great color combo. Concord Crush, Island Indigo, and Lucky Limeade.

I stamped different images from my Circle Circus set. It's one of my favorites. I used it on my sister's graduation invites, if you are a frequent follower.

I kept the inside sort of plain, so I could write about how old she's getting.

Her birthday was like 2 weeks ago, so I'm a little behind.

Speaking of birthdays..Jonathan's birthday is quickly approaching...and I need to get it in gear. This year I'm going to get him coal...no wait, that's for Christmas.

Two-step Orange Flower Card

Hi, my name is Jessica, and I'm addicted to two-step stamping.

It's just so easy, and I love the way it turns out.

I made this card for Jonathan's sister. Her 18th birthday was last Friday. I was definitely a little sad to part with this card. I stamped the outline of the stamps in Chocolate chip, the flower fill in part in Peach Parfait, and the leaves in Old Olive...sounds delicious.

I cut around the outline, I love how it's not perfect, that the orange goes outside the lines. I popped up the flower and used Chocolate chip ribbon.

I'm sorry this is a terrible picture, and in no way does it justice..(I'm still learning, ok?) But I did some more stamping on the inside. I think it turned out really cute.

I've got a couple days off this week because it's my weekend, so I'm hoping to get caught up in the scrap room. I've still got several scrapbook pages to finish, by finish I mean start. Summer is almost over (hopefully) and fall is approaching, so it's time to gear up for some birthdays, showers, and of course, my favorite..Halloweeen. I don't start thinking about that red and green holiday until at least November..I suggest you all do the same.

Black and Yellow Big 3-0!

It's my 3 day weekend, and to be honest, I just don't think it will be enough.

We're going to the KC Highland Games tomorrow, and then to a co-workers for a huge BBQ Bash! I'm pretty excited. This bash is for many occasions, and one of them brings me to the card I have for you today.
Her husband is turning the big 3-0! So she asked me to make a card for him.

If you follow frequently (yeah like all 3 of you..) then you've seen this type of card before. I made one like this originally for another co-worker's dad..it was awesome, you can see it here. But this one is slightly different.

I brought the glitter! I guess he hates glitter, so everyone gets him things with glitter. I feel his pain, once you spill some, it's there forever. This glitter is contained. It's a shaker card.

I left the inside fairly blank, you know, for his wife to write a nice message or something.

So, tomorrow should be a pretty big day. I hope to get lots of photos at the festival. We're taking Oliver, so it's bound to be interesting.

Gray and Purple Birthday Card

I do have happy news for today! Oliver passed his Canine Good Citizen test!! I couldn't be happier. We worked really hard, and it payed off. Now I'm finally motivated to turn in his AKC registration papers. The CGC certification will go with his AKC number, and if we start competing in agility, and titles he wins will also go under his registry. Our first Agility class is still a couple weeks away, so I'm gonna try a few more tricks with him. I think "spin" and "crawl" will be next.
It's such a relief to have the test over with. Because I have several cards I need to make.

Speaking of cards, I have one that I made for today...

I'm a little disappointed with the picture quality, but it was nighttime when I took it. This one is for a friend of mine at work. Her birthday is actually tomorrow, and she's celebrating her 2nd annual 29th birthday. We had a surprise party for her last week at work.
I used the Medallion stamp from SU! and stamped it with Rich Razzleberry ink.

Hmm, it focused on the bow instead of the Happy Birthday. I was in a hurry. Oh well. I'm really happy with how it turned out.
I'm a big fan of the Medallion stamp. I can see it being great for all sorts of things.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day.

Today is Your Birthday...

Today is my little sister's birthday, she's 18 today..and I feel OLD!

Her new favorite color is purple, so that was the inspiration for the card I made for her.

It really started with the flowers. They came from Hobby Lobby. So did the brads in the center. I bought patterned paper to match, and the cardstock is Stampin Up. I used my Cricut to cut the swirlies, and I used my iRock to put the tiny rhinestones on them.

I popped the flowers up with pop dots.

I used all the same stuff on the inside..I'm not sure what I'm going to write..I should get to work on that...

I've got one more card to post, but it's still on my memory card..so that will have to wait until tomorrow.

A Purple and Yellow Birthday Card

I intended to get this post up yesterday, but I was busy shopping. So I'm doing it today.

My mom's birthday was yesterday, so I made her a card.

The paper is the Razzleberry Lemonade series by Stampin Up, and it's retired. But I love it, so I bought some on clearance. The "image" I made with 2 stamps from a set I don't know the name of. but it has the dragonflies and the little dot things. I stamped the dot things in Crushed Curry and Peach Parfait first, then the dragonflies in Rich Razzleberry. I sponged the edges with Crushed Curry.

I don't think you can tell, but then I used thick embossing powder to give it that glass look. I didn't break it, but it still looks cool.

Here's the inside.

I was pretty happy with how it came out. We took her out to lunch, and my little brother even showed up.

We're so ready for Thanksgiving weekend. We only have 2 to go to this year, lunch at my mom's and dinner at my sister's. Turkey Coma here we come!

A Fall Foliage Birthday Card

Today I have a birthday card I've been working on for the past few days. It's for Jonathan's dad. Jonathan had the original idea "leaves or something" and I ran with it. When it comes to cards for his family I generally make him get involved. He helped choose the colors and the paper, he even signed his own name inside, which doesn't always happen.

I'm really pleased with how this one turned out, and I'm a little sad to see it go.

All the paper is from Stampin Up. I used the Gypsy and Cricut to cut out the leaves. The Gypsy has a search function so I was able to see all the leaves I already had on my cartridges, this saved me tons of time. I used the Gypsy to arrange my mat so I could cut all the different leaves at one time..also a time saver.
I used Ranger Distress ink to distress every piece of paper to within an inch of it's life...but I like what it adds to the card.

The Happy Birthday stamp is from Hobby Lobby, or somewhere like it. The camera didn't really pick it up (big surprise there) but I used just a hint of yellow Glimmer Mist to spritz the leaves..they just looked so plain.

I had a few extra leaves to use in the inside, but otherwise it's blank.

I'm currently working on the first Christmas card of the season, and I hope to be able to finish it tomorrow, but we'll see.

I hope everyone is having a good week so far.
