Our 3rd Year Anniversary

3 years ago today Jonathan and I got married. It was the best day of my life, and also the best decision. We've never been happier.

We have decided to give the traditional wedding gifts to each other every year..to make it a bit more challenging. Year 1 was paper, I got Jon a wonderful stationary set with a monogram wax presser...he got me a kindle (cheater). Year 2 was cotton, I made Jonathan a shadow box with cotton seeds, as well as some cotton undershirts, he got me some shirts, and an iPod dock (cheater). So we're on to year 3, which is leather. I put my foot down this year...no cheating, and no supplemental gifts! I got Jonathan a pair of leather driving gloves, he got me a pair of fur lined leather mittens!! Win! And it further proves my point that we truly are soul mates.

*On a completely unrelated note, Oliver is out of surgery, and doing wonderful, or so I'm told. I plan on fully blogging his procedures and road to recovery so that hopefully someone in need of info stumbles upon my blog and is able to find the answers I mostly had to guess..but more on that once we bring him home*

I have an anniversary card today!

It's semi-manly. I used my medallion stamp and I colored it with markers to give it that multicolored look.

A brad in the center really brings it together. The inside is plain, with room for a loving message.

I should have several more updates this week. We go to pick Oliver up tomorrow, and I couldn't be happier.

Cone Flower Anniversary Card

I have a card today. I spent all weekend up here in my craft room. I got a few cards done, and most importantly...I'm 1 page away from finishing my 2nd year of marriage scrapbook. Which means, I'm only 10 months behind.

My co-worker is definitely keeping me busy.

I made this for her. She knows a lot of people who are having anniversaries. I use the Inspired by Nature set. I colored it with markers, and cut it out. That sounded like a good idea until I actually got started. I am terrible with scissors. I used the new In Color Wisteria Wonder for the flowers. I also stamped off and used it on the background.

I used some Chocolate Chip ribbon, and added a few sparklies to the sentiment.

I'm hoping to get a little craft time in this week, I've got later start times at work. I doubt I'll have much time this weekend, we're getting it pretty booked up.

Flower Anniversary Card

I have a card today! Hooray!

We've been pretty busy around here lately. We've been practicing agility, buying new furniture, and shaping up that yard the way it should be. I've also got tons of pictures and some video from the 4th of July...so look for that soon, I've got a 3 day weekend coming up!

Anyway, today I've got a commissioned card.

One of my co-workers is keeping me busy in the studio..not that I'm complaining..I like it! Some people she knows just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. I've only got 3 years on that...and it seems like forever already. So I made this card for her. The flowers are from the AmyR sympathy set and the paper is Elegant Soiree from Stampin Up. I love the brown and blue combo.

The flowers are stamped on watercolor paper, and I used my aqua painter and my markers to color it in water color style.

She's asked me to make another one, so look for that on the horizon.

I hope everyone is recovered from the holiday fun.

Heart Button Card

I haven't been slacking, ok, maybe I have.

I made this a few days ago. It was a custom request from a coworker friend of mine (thanks Marsha!) for a couple she knows in her hometown.

I cut the heart shape out with my Cricut, and glued a lot of pink buttons to it. I was hoping it would make a dent in my abnormal button supply, but it didn't even touch it.

I used my Cuttlebug for the dot background. The paper is all SU paper, and the ribbon is from my stash. The inside is blank.

She said she really liked it, and it's already on its way in the mail. I hope the couple likes it too.

I've got a couple other requests in my queue. I'm formulating plans as we speak, well type. Hopefully I'll have some time in the next 2 days to get some things finished.

Wedding Anniversary #2

I've got a pretty picture heavy post today. I've been busy working on things for our second wedding anniversary, which was yesterday October 18th.

We decided that we would participate in giving the traditional wedding anniversary gifts, because it would be more challenging. The first anniversary gift is paper, which you think would be easy, but I've got a cheater on my hands. He gave me a Kindle (which I love)...electronic paper..funny right? So this year we had a long chat about not cheating. The second anniversary gift is cotton. I did get some things made of cotton, but I also got a iPod dock that lights up and charges my iPod (also love it!) however..it is in no way made of cotton. Big. Fat. Cheater.

I had some help with my idea this year (thanks mom!) So here's what I did.

I made this card, it's a secret message card..but more on that in a few.

I used the broken glass technique on the front panel. And lot and lots of sponged edges.

When you open it you can see the first message.

Then here's the secret part.

Then some magic happens...(I had to take this picture out since you could read what I wrote..and this being a secret message card and all it was really only meant for my husband...watch Dawn's video to see how it works. It's totally awesome and I plan to make several more of these)

You can open it the other way to show a different message. It's really pretty cool. The idea and how to came from Dawn's Stamping Studio of course.

But this is what took the longest. It goes in a shadow box, it's like a scrapbook page, but instead of paper, I used cotton fabric! My mom ordered some cotton seeds for me.

I went and picked out a bunch of fabric that I thought went together, and when I got home I saw that this one had a cute boy and girl holding hands! I just had to use that part.

I printed a picture of cotton and put the seeds on a little wax paper pouch.

I'd never seen cotton seeds, they're really fuzzy. I have some extra in case anyone is interested in growing their own cotton.

It's been a really busy weekend. But now I have a whole year to think about what to do for our third anniversary...which is leather.

It's my Friday today since I have to work this weekend. I have some more exciting pictures to bring you..it's Halloween time and that means dressing our poor animals up in costumes..more on that later this week.
